Emily Perl Kingsley

Ms. Kingsley retired from Sesame Street in August 2015 after 45 years.  She plans to expand her career by doing more public speaking in the area of Inclusion of Disability in the Media.

Emily's son Jason graduated from Maplebrook School, a three-year post-secondary transitional program which has prepared him for independent living.  He  worked as Assistant Cultural Arts Program Coordinator for Westchester ARC for two years. After two years at the White Plains Public Library, Jason recently worked at the Disney Store in the Westchester Mall in White Plains, NY.  He is now running the mail delivery department for Westchester Arc and has worked there for 20 years.

Jason lives in a small house with two roommates in Hartsdale, New York.  He and his roommates recently conducted a neighborhood survey and prepared a petition to request the construction of a sidewalk on the busy street on which they live.  They delivered the petition to the Town Board and kicked off a town-wide sidewalk/safety campaign which got significant press and media coverage.  They recently were given the Westchester Arc Community Action Award in recognition of their efforts to improve their neighborhood.
